Hydrophilic seals used in Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) applications are specialized components designed to swell upon contact with water, creating a tight and effective barrier against leaks. These seals are typically installed at pipe joints, lateral connections, or termination points where the cured liner interfaces with the existing pipe structure. When exposed to moisture, the hydrophilic seal expands enhancing the watertight integrity of the CIPP system. This feature is especially critical in areas prone to inflow and infiltration. Hydrophilic seals are important because they provide an added layer of protection beyond the cured liner itself, ensuring long-term performance and helping meet stringent industry standards including ASTM F2561, F2599, F3240 and F3097.

For each CIPP liner shot, a minimum of 4 hydrophilic seals are used — 2 at the upstream end and 2 at the downstream end of the liner.

Note: When installing transitional liners, use the final installation size on each end, example: for 4” to 6” transitions must use a 4” hydrophilic gaskets on the 4” side and a 6” hydrophilic gaskets on the 6” side.
