The practical applications area of our campus was specially designed to simulate real-world job scenarios within a controlled environment to eliminate distractions and focus on fundamentals without the complications of a live job. We use our classroom space to review basics and host meals.
FIELD TRAINING
When our technical experts come to you for training, they’ll set up basic practice scenarios in your shop and complete the session on a live job. Having expert guidance while installing, especially for your first installation, is invaluable.

INSTALLER CERTIFICATION
COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING FOR CERTIFIED PROFICIENCY
HammerHead University certification programs consist of three key components:
- An eLearning course for foundational information (e.g., operation overview)
- Hands-on training and practice with real-time feedback from technical experts
- Standardized assessment of your performance operating the equipment in normal conditions
Each component adds to your understanding, and put together, they demonstrate the depth of knowledge and proficiency you’ve gained. Explore a sample of our program details, based on our Lateral CIPP with Bluelight Cure certification, below.
eLearning
LENGTH: About 15 minutes
QUIZ: 7 questions, 6 correct to pass
After completing the eLearning course, you should be able to:
- Explain what Bluelight cure is and how it works.
- Identify the equipment you’ll need to install lateral CIPP with Bluelight cure.
- Identify pipe conditions appropriate for CIPP lining.
- Describe the process used to install lateral CIPP with Bluelight cure.
Hands-On Training
LENGTH: 3 days
MEALS: Lunches and dinners provided
LODGING: Students are responsible for travel and lodging, but we provide recommendations
TYPICAL CLASS SIZE: 2-8 students*

After hands-on training with a technical expert, you should be able to:
- Assess if a pipe is a candidate for CIPP lining.
- Calculate the correct length of liner, calibration tube, and pull tape for a given job.
- Install a wet-out liner using an inversion drum.
- Enter all job specifications into the Bluelight LED touch screen display.
- Cure the liner completely using the correct LED light head.
- Care for the Bluelight LED System in order to extend its life and prevent damage.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE: Rookies and veteran installers alike can benefit from our training. Sessions are customized to the individual needs of the students and the employer to make sure you get the most out of your investment.
PREREQUISITES: We recommend that each student complete the eLearning course prior to attending hands-on training. This allows our technical experts to spend more time on hands-on practice and less reviewing the basics.
Performance Assessment
Your instructor will use a standardized checklist to score your performance while setting up, operating, and shutting down the equipment. There is nothing in the assessment that is not covered during the training session, and it is based entirely on best practices to help ensure your success in the field.
Maintaining Certification
After the eLearning course, hands-on training, and assessment are complete, you will receive certification that is good for at least two years – most products are good for two, while lateral point repair and flow-through point repair are good for three. Thirty days before your certification expires, HHU Online will send you an email notification with a link to an eLearning course. Complete that brief course and your certification will be good for another two or three years!
Recertification
In case you let your certification lapse, HammerHead University offers 1-day recertification training sessions. This option is for students who already attended hands-on training and need a refresher on proper procedures and best practices with real-time feedback from experts. Recertification is an effective way to rebuild proficiency through guided instruction and practice.

HammerHead University Campus consists of a smart classroom and a two-story, 5,000 square foot practical applications area attached to our headquarters and manufacturing facility. The practical applications area is designed to provide realistic demonstrations and hands-on practice in a distraction-free, controlled environment that is plumbed to code.
